Love Can Conquer Anything
The hardest thing I had to do, was watch him drive away from my house, on his trip to his his new home in Anchorage. It tore me apart. But I wanted to figure out a way to make sure he knew that distance didn't matter, that I was going to love him anyway. I thought, what could I give him that would remind him everyday? I didn't want to just give him a mug with each of our states on it and I didn't just want to put a picture of us together in a frame and send it to him; I wanted to be unique. I went and found a map of Las Vegas, where I live, and Anchorage, where he will be living the next few years, and thought that was a good starting point. I got a piece of black poster board and cut out two hearts. I then placed the maps underneath so they'd show through. I got red paper and made a little heart in between and found a quote that I loved; "Distance means so little when someone means so much." I added it and at the bottom, I added a bunch of little pictures of us that we took before he left and put it in a frame. It's more simple and elegant, just enough for a guy to appreciate it.
